We anticipate Brigg town centre being visited by some Nottingham Forest football fans stopping off for refreshments on their way to a game at Hull City this Saturday (May 7).
Promotion-chasing Forest are third in the table and this will be their last regular season fixture before the play-offs to decide who will be joining Fulham and Bournemouth in the Premiership for 2022/23.
Forest supporters travelling by coach will be looking for a pint or two in Brigg and also for fast food - boosting takings for some local outlets.
As the game in Hull kicks off at 12.30pm, Forest fans opting to visit Brigg will be here mid-morning.
Many Hartlepool supporters stopped off in town last Saturday on their way to watch the game at Scunthorpe United.
Travelling fans have also called in Brigg for refreshments before heading to Grimsby Town's Blundell Park and Lincoln City's Sincil Bank.
The biggest influx we can recall came in the early 1980s - Leeds United spectators on their way to Grimsby for a second-tier game played in mid-August.
Many of them opted to use the Black Bull, on Wrawby Street, as a refreshment stop on a glorious sunny Saturday.
Much more recently, Brigg has been visited by supporters of Aston Villa, Barnsley, Bradford City, Derby County, Port Vale, Mansfield, Sunderland and Stockport County.
How do they know Brigg is an ideal place to stop?
Perhaps they heard it on the grapevine; the football supporters' version!
