DOMESTIC PROPERTY NEW BUILDS & EXTENSIONS IN BRIGG KEEP PLANNERS BUSY

Brigg being a very popular place to live, new properties continue to be built, with a number of extension schemes also being drawn up for existing homes.
In the former category is the detached house (pictured above) taking shape on land to the side of the Cemetery Lodge on Wrawby Road.
Council approval is now being sought to amend the planning permission previously granted to include the installation of solar panels to the rear roof slopes and remove a gable within the extension.
North Lincolnshire Council will consider this "non-material amendment" in due course.
The applicant says the type of solar panels to be used will be "sunken" and "integrated" so they are hardly visible.
"Our aim is to be environmentally friendly, help reduce carbon emissions and greenhouse gases," he stresses.
Recently submitted applications for domestic properties in Brigg include demolishing an existing garage and replacing it with single-storey habitable living accommodation, with internal modifications, at 11 Churchill Avenue.
Approval is also being sought to erect a two-storey side extension and make internal alterations to the dwelling at 7 Westrum Lane.
This application has already been discussed by Brigg Town Council, which is consulted about local planning proposals.
The town authority has now told North Lincolnshire planners it has no objections to the application but notes privacy concerns expressed by a neighbour. Brigg Town Council is suggesting that obscured glass is specified  "in the windows overlooking."
The town authority has also been consulted about notice of intention to remove a leyland cypress tree at Demeter House School, on Bigby Street, within the conservation area.
Brigg Town Council has no objections to its removal "and would presume that the applicant has sought advice on a replacement tree from a suitably qualified arboricultural officer."
North Lincolnshire Council will now consider the proposed removal and make its ruling at some future date.
The leyland cypress is very close to the school's main building and a boundary wall.

Elsewhere in the town at the moment, new houses and apartments are being built off and adjoining Bridge Street, on three different sites.
