BRIGG TOWN FC IN EIGHT-GOAL CUP-TIE AFTER VISITING FANS SHOW THEIR GENEROSITY

There was a rare defeat for Brigg Football Club's Veterans yesterday (Sunday, May 1) but it will not affect their bid for the Hull & District League Division Four championship.
Brigg, who lead this section, went down 5-3 away to second-placed Cottingham Rangers, but in the Divisional Cup.
Senior Zebras on the mark were Will Hartley (pictured here, lower right), Dave Betts and Wayne Barley.
Brigg Town Development have a home game coming up on Wednesday night (May 4) when they welcome Grantham Town Academy to the EC Surfacing Stadium (7.45pm kick off).
Brigg's programme in the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League Premier will then conclude on Saturday, May 14 when they visit Wyberton.
Saturday saw yet another example of our town being visited as a refreshment stop by dozens of travelling away fans on their way to watch a Football League fixture.
Followers of Hartlepool United stopped off on their way to watch the 1-1 draw at Scunthorpe United, calling at a number of local hostelries and food outlets and boosting their takings. Most of the supporters from the north-east donned outfits in support of the National Health Service.
Well-known Brigg charity fundraiser Andrew 'Sass' Markham has now sent us this picture taken outside the Lord Nelson Hotel, in the Market Place - "passing the box around" to accept donations for Pancreatic Cancer Action, which has a well-established local group supporting its efforts to raise awareness of this disease.
Andrew has also forwarded a copy of the image to the Hartlepool Mail newspaper "to thank the fans for their amazing generosity and good humour."
'Sass' is seen on the extreme right of the picture.
Hibaldstow cricketers lost on their visit to Heslam Park to play Scunthorpe Town 4ths in a Mick Walker Memorial Trophy Group B match, organised by the North Lindsey League, yesterday (Sunday). The local villagers came up short after being set a testing target of 207. Josh Robinson and Nauman Akhta both took two wickets for Hibaldstow who were bowled out for 110 in reply - openers Nathan Stewart (with 29) and Toby Carter (26) top scoring.
