TEMPORARY BRIGG ROAD CLOSURES RESULT FROM ESSENTIAL IMPROVEMENT WORK

Temporary road closures will result from an essential improvement work project which is being carried out in Brigg over 10 days.
Affected will be the busy A1084 where Bigby Road joins Bigby High Road - the route leading to and from Brigg Garden Centre, Caistor, Howsham, North & South Kelsey and Market Rasen.
Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd says: "Please note a temporary road closure, which will last around 15 minutes, will be in place for the road-rail vehicle to access and leave the railway at the start and end of the shift at Brigg level crossing."
The company's project team is scheduled to be working between 6am and 2pm on Monday, May 9 through to Friday, May 13; and then again from Monday, May 16 to Friday, May 20.
Workers will be jetting and cleaning railway drains over the two-mile stretch of the Brigg line from the Old River Ancholme bridge, through the station and level crossing towards Kettleby Lane, Wrawby.
Network Rail recently wrote to many people living near the site of its Brigg-Kettleby improvement work to apologise in advance "for any disruption this may cause" but stressed this work was essential.
"The nature of our work often means some disturbance is unavoidable, with the teams using heavy drainage and railway machinery, and vehicles," the company added.
Brigg Blog is very pleased to see improvement work being carried out on the local railway line.
Currently the Saturdays-only passenger train service linking Brigg with Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Gainsborough and Sheffield has been suspended by Northern, the operating company, because of Covid-related staffing issues.
The Brigg line is still used by some freight trains, as and when required.
The pictures seen here were taken yesterday afternoon (Sunday, May 8) from Bigby Road near the level (barrier) crossing and the town's signalbox.
People planning to visit Brigg Garden Centre, Caistor, Howsham, North & South Kelsey and Market Rasen might consider timing their journeys to avoid the "end of the shift" at 2pm, we suggest.
