COUNCIL MAKES ITS DECISION ON BRIGG RECRUITMENT 'ADVERTISEMENT'

A distinctive roadside display in Brigg which is aimed at boosting fire-fighter recruitment has now gained official approval - months after it was put in place at a prominent location near the A18.
A formal 'retrospective' application submitted some weeks ago on behalf of the Humberside Fire & Rescue Service has now been granted advertisement consent by North Lincolnshire Council.
The display approved for Brigg Fire Station, on Barnard Avenue, features "vinyl wrapping images" on a roller shutter and a door (pictured here),
A public consultation period was observed without any adverse comments being received by planners, with Brigg Town Council saying it had no objections.
The signage faces the main road through the town and a North Lincolnshire authority assessment report noted: "Highways have no concerns or objections. It is therefore considered that the signs would not unduly distract drivers due to their size, position and design, and therefore would not cause unacceptable danger to highway safety."
The report also concluded: "The signs are of a size and height that would not detract from the character of the area and are therefore considered acceptable in terms of visual impact."
North Lincolnshire Council has granted advertisement consent to run for five years - expiring in May 2027.

Similar advertisement consent applications for Kirton Lindsey and Epworth fire stations have also been approved by North Lincolnshire Council. Another, relating to Crowle fire station, has yet to be decided.

The picture above shows the official notice posted near the fire station to inform the public about the application for advertisement consent.
