SPITFIRE FLYPAST COMING UP ON ARMED FORCES DAY, BRIGG MEETING INFORMED

Many people from Brigg and district will be interested in attending an event which will feature a flypast by a Spitfire from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF).
Possibly the RAF Coningsby-based fighter will pass over our area on its way to and from Scunthorpe for Armed Forces Day 2022.
Armed Forces Day is being organised by North Lincolnshire Council for Saturday, June 18, from 11am to 4pm.
Every Brigg Town Council meeting receives an update on North Lincolnshire unitary authority issues relevant to our area.
The latest was presented in the Angel Suite by Coun Carl Sherwood (Brigg's Deputy Town Mayor) on behalf of himself and fellow Brigg & Wolds representatives Coun Rob Waltham and Coun Nigel Sherwood.
Coun Carl (pictured above during the meeting) outlined details of Armed Forces Day, explaining that it was resuming after a two-year gap because of the Covid emergency.
The venue chosen was Brumby Hall, off Ashby Road (near the former Civic Centre, now UCNL) with free admission.
A day or two after the meeting in the Angel, North Lincolnshire released additional details about Armed Forces Day through its press office (see below).
Brumby Hall is on Brigg to Scunthorpe bus route operated by Hornsbys (via Scawby Brook, Castlethorpe and Broughton). Request the stop near the Pods leisure centre.
Brigg Blog will try to confirm the Spitfire's route to and from Scunthorpe as Armed Forces Day approaches, and the times.
Many local people like to watch the BBMF's historic aircraft whenever they fly over our area - Spitfire, Hurricane, Lancaster and Dakota.
Coun Carl's North Lincolnshire Council report also included an update about the unitary authority's re-surfacing work on Bridge Street - soon to be completed.
He explained there had been some delays for motorists but much of the contracted work had been undertaken after 6pm to try and minimise hold-ups.

Coun Rob Waltham then gave an update on the anti-Coronavirus injection rate for the over-12s in North Lincolnshire and also the payment of £150 rebates to local households. Special arrangements were being made for those without bank accounts.
Coun Waltham also mentioned the re-homing in North Lincolnshire of a number of families from Ukraine, including two in Brigg.
