BRIGG PROJECT WILL HELP PARKRUN COMPETITORS & LOCAL RESIDENTS

The value to Brigg of the recently established Saturday morning Ancholme Valley Way Parkruns was stressed by Coun Rob Waltham during the Town Council's annual meeting. These 5k events are bringing scores of people into the town - all potential customers for local shops and businesses.
Coun Waltham said 150 competitors, on average, were taking part each week - some being newcomers to organised runs.
The start line is close to the Ancholme Way Bridge, and the council is now planning to refurbish the adjacent Memorial Garden by providing bench seating which Parkrun competitors and local people can use.
Coun Waltham suggested that as the Parkruns were drawing so many people into Brigg, this was a good way to show support.
Noticeboard provision will also be made so information about the weekly runs can be displayed.
Meanwhile, Brigg's popular picnic area is to receive a litter bin located near the existing tables and seating, following a suggestion made by Deputy Town Mayor Coun Carl Sherwood.
The picnic area, established some time ago by the Town Council, is on a grassy area near the riverside, facing Glanford Boat Club on the opposite bank.
The town authority's latest meeting also approved a large litter bin to be sited on Atherton Way.
Paths in the cemetery, off Wrawby Road, are due to be cleared over the coming weeks.
