BRIGG BLOG PREVIEWS WEEKEND CRICKET, FOOTBALL AND 5K RUN

Brigg, Broughton and Hibaldstow cricket teams will be in league and cup action this weekend.
In the former category, Brigg Town face what may prove to be a testing away game in Lincolnshire County League Division Three West against Barton Town 2nds who are fresh from posting a huge total (282) on their fine Marsh Lane square last Saturday.
Also in the western section, Broughton 2nds make the short trip to Messingham 2nds.
Broughton's first teamers have a home tie in the first round of the George Marshall Trophy knockout competition tomorrow, hosting Scunthorpe Town 2nds (1pm start).
Hibaldstow will be visiting Normanby Park in the initial stage of the Bob Welton Cup.
Sunday will then see Hibaldstow hosting Normanby in a Mick Walker North Lindsey League Division Two fixture (1.30pm start).
There will be another Ancholme Valley Way Parkrun in Brigg this Saturday, heading north alongside the river. Competitors for the 5K event will be meeting at 8.45am for a 9am start near the Ancholme Way flyover bridge.
Famous parkrun podcaster Nicola Forwood joined the Brigg event last Saturday and later described the run as stunning. She has a YouTube channel called Nicola Runs. View the results of last Saturday's event here... More than 150 competitors took part.
And finally... a reminder that a Brigg Town Football Club XI will be playing College Wanderers tonight (Friday, May 6) at the EC Surfacing Stadium (Hawthorns) in a special match to raise money for a worthy football charity which helps injured players (7.30pm kick-off). Spectators are welcome.
