SUPER SATURDAY: CRICKET WINS FOR BRIGG, BROUGHTON & HIBALDSTOW TEAMS

Brigg Town Cricket Club v Horncastle at the Recreation Ground on Saturday, May 21, 2022

Brigg Town, Hibaldstow and Broughton 2nds all recorded super Saturday victories in their Lincolnshire County Cricket League matches yesterday (May 21).
Hibaldstow triumphed by a very wide margin, 142 runs, in their Division Two visit to Holton-le-Clay 2nds.
Joe Taylor top scored with a middle-order 69 as the visiting villagers posted 205 all-out in the permitted 45 overs.
The home line-up was then dismissed for 67 in the 31st over, as Tom Taylor took four wickets at a cost of only five runs, sending down five maidens (no runs scored off the bat).
Broughton 2nds - hosting league newcomers Grimoldby in a Supplementary Cup Group One game - also recorded a crushing win.
Having opted to bat first, the visitors managed only 64 as the five Broughton bowlers employed gave little away and continued to take wickets, including Matthew Oades (three for 11).
Opening the home team's reply, Steve Johnstone (35 not out) and Richard Stone (30 not out) knocked off the required runs inside 14 overs.
Broughton's first teamers were without a league fixture yesterday.
Brigg Town recorded their initial Lincs League victory of the season - a century opening partnership being one of the highlights.
Having lost three away fixtures, Town made the most of their first appearance of the year at Brigg Recreation Ground, beating Horncastle by seven wickets in Supplementary Cup Group Three.
Long-serving Brigg all-rounder Jack Richards did well with bat and ball, while Guy Haxby recorded the game's top score.
Horncastle got away to a flying start - their top three all making good scores.
They eventually posted 164 for five in the permitted 40 overs, Jack Richards having Brigg's best analysis of three for 26 during which he dismissed both free-scoring Horncastle openers.
Brigg had short of runs so far this season, but this was soon forgotten as Haxby (69) and Richards (50 before retiring) compiled a 128-run opening stand.
Having lost a couple of wickets cheaply,Town were steered home by all-rounders Dave Baggott and Vijay Raju with seven overs to spare and seven wickets in hand.
