MANY BRIGG HOUSEHOLDS QUALIFY FOR £150 REBATES NOW BEING PAID

Hundreds of householders living in Brigg and district should now be checking their bank accounts to confirm receipt of a sizeable payment.
Yesterday (Friday, May 5) saw the first £150 council tax energy rebates being paid through North Lincolnshire Council.
Those who have yet to receive payment through their banks should get theirs over the coming days.
"It shows differently with different banks/building societies," the authority says of the bank account transfer: "It could say N. Lincs or bank giro credit."
Almost 40,000 households within council tax bands A, B, C and D, which pay by direct debit, "will automatically receive the cash" the council says in reference to the district it administers.
Other arrangements are being made to pass on the £150 to householders who do not pay their council tax to North Lincolnshire Council through the bank in this way.
Coun Rob Waltham (Brigg & Wolds), who is North Lincolnshire Council's leader, said yesterday: “This support from Government to help people with the global inflationary pressures in the energy market will make a big difference.
“I am pleased so many families across the area will have this cash in their bank account. It is £6m from Government which will be spent locally; the impact will be significant for individual families and more widely across North Lincolnshire in shops, pubs and other businesses."
During Brigg Town Council's latest meeting, Coun Waltham revealed the date when the first payments would be made to direct debit users.
He had first revealed details of forthcoming tax rebates at the town authority's March meeting (reported by Brigg Blog).
Coun Waltham indicated that arrangements would be made to "raise cheques" for householders who did not make council tax payments by direct debit.
We pay our council tax to North Lincolnshire Council by direct debit, and a check with our bank yesterday morning showed the £150 had been received - flagged up as being a Tax Rebate.
North Lincolnshire Council stressed yesterday: "Payments to direct debit holders and the letters to those not on direct debit will be sent automatically; eligible households do not need to contact the council."
The letters will be sent out "week commencing May 9."
Should any households fail to receive their rebate, they should email counciltax@northlincs.gov.uk - "making sure you quote your council tax number."

Householders living in West Lindsey parishes near Brigg (including Bigby, Grasby, Searby and North and South Kelsey) are getting their rebates through the Gainsborough-based district authority.
Some West Lindsey households which are signed up for direct debit were paid in late April; others will get their money during week commencing May 9.
