BRIGG ROADWORKS UPDATE: SECOND PROJECT SCHEDULED TO BEGIN ON A18

Progress pictures taken in Brigg today (Tuesday, May 24) show one road improvement project which is well under way, with other roadworks elsewhere on the A18 scheduled to start later this week.
On May 3, North Lincolnshire Council began an extensive scheme to resurface Bridge Street and install a new pedestrian crossing and make additional provision for cyclists. This project is scheduled to continue until June 12.
The local highway authority indicated that much of the work was scheduled to be undertaken overnight, reducing delays for drivers.
The old road surface having been stripped away by contractors, some of the replacement layer has already been laid.
As our images show, the pedestrian crossing's central reservation and Belisha beacons are now in place.
The new crossing is located near the junction with the cul-de-sac section of Bridge Street (close to the Yarborough Hunt pub), Forrester Street and Kiln Lane. Previously there were only traffic islands for pedestrians to use if they wished to cross the very busy A18 in this part of the town.
Later this week, Northern Powergrid is to carry out essential supply connection works which are expected to affect A18 traffic on Wrawby Road and the eastern section of Wrawby Street.
Temporary traffic controls will be in place from 7pm on Friday, May 27 through to 6am on Sunday, May 29.
Powergrid stresses it always aims to keep any inconvenience to a minimum.
The same company is to carry out more work along Wrawby Road from June 6 to 10.
