BRIGG MAYOR-MAKING CEREMONY COMING UP

A date has now been confirmed for the Annual Meeting of Brigg Town Council which will include the Mayor-making ceremony during which the town's first citizen, to serve for the following 12 months, will be formally installed with the chain of office.
The AGM will be held on Tuesday, May 24, from 7pm, in the Angel Suite.
This session will be open to interested members of the public.
For its March and April meetings, the Town Council switched venues from the Buttercross (owned by the North Lincolnshire authority) where it had been convening to Room S04 in the nearby Angel building which adjoins the Town Council's new office.
Room S04 is smaller than the function room at the Buttercross but does offer seating for the press and public.
For the latest meeting, the only 'public' attenders were Ken Harrison who is chairman of Brigg Matters Magazine, Brigg Blog and Keith Simpson, the Town Mayor's Chaplain, who said a prayer at the beginning of the session and then stayed to listen to all the agenda items which followed.
Room S04 is located on the top floor of the Angel building, overlooking the Market Place, from which we took the above picture before the council meeting began. Barclays bank, on the left, closed in January.
Since we recorded this scene the former Molly's Flowers shop to the left of the Coney Court archway (hidden by the leafy tree) has been placed on the property market to rent (see image below).
Louise Beacock's floral business had shop premises in the town centre for 18 years until early July 2020 when it switched to a home-based workshop, offering the same service to customers.
Since then the shop has been used on a pop up basis, from time to time, to sell fruit & veg when bad weather, or other factors, have meant the general market stall nearby could not operate.
DDM Agricultural, which has an office in Brigg, is handling inquiries from prospective tenants interested in renting this prominently located shop.

JUST A REMINDER: There is another Bike Night at Brigg Town Football Club's EC Surfacing Stadium tonight (May 12) from 5pm. These events aimed at fans of two-wheel transport are to be held every Thursday until further notice. All welcome if you wish to pop down and take a look.
