Brigg is getting a new trophy which will go to the winners of a new sports tournament who will then hold it for 12 months.
The Brigg Town Mayor’s Cup will form the centre-piece of a team tournament to be established at nearby Elsham Golf Club, as our town does not have its own course.
The town's current first citizen, Coun Brian Parker, is donating the trophy.
He sought, and has now received, the Town Council's formal permission to call it the Brigg Town Mayor’s Cup.
Coun Parker would like to see the golf tournament become established as an annual event, following the initial tournament on Friday, July 22, 2022.
Entry fees and other proceeds will be donated to the annual Mayor's Appeal Fund, in support of local worthy causes.
