BRIGG, HIBALDSTOW & WRAWBY ARE NOT POLES APART

Brigg and some nearby parishes are included in a power-related project which is now being considered by North Lincolnshire Council planners.
Northern Powergrid (Yorkshire) Ltd wishes to replace 61 wooden poles supporting a 32kv electricity line between Wrawby, Hibaldstow and Kirton Lindsey.
This crosses the A1084 on Bigby High Road between Brigg Garden Centre and the town boundary and also passes Westrum Lane.
This application has been made under the Overhead Lines (Exemption) (England & Wales) Regulations 2009, and the company says it also intends to "refurbish the balance of poles."
There are currently 169 poles carrying the overhead line which connects with the Electricity Distribution Site on Kettleby Lane, Wrawby.
Beyond Hibaldstow, the line continues to a substation on North Cliff Road, Kirton.
Northern Powergrid describes the proposed work between Wrawby and Hibaldstow as a partial rebuild, explaining that some of the wooden poles need replacing "due to their age and condition."
North Lincolnshire Council has been consulted by the power company and asked to indicate it has no objection to these works being carried out.
A public consultation period has been established by the council and will end on June 3.
Local planners are well used to considering proposals for new buildings, extensions and changes of use.
However, we can't recall another application involving so many poles over such a distance.
