Fundraising is going swimmingly following the safe capture, vet treatment and re-homing of The Brigg Seal known as Simon.
The charity which caught the youngster after his visit to the River Ancholme in (and near) our town has set up a JustGiving page so people can, if they wish, make online donations to help towards buying equipment for British Divers Marine Life Rescue's volunteers.
The target is £1,000. And when we checked yesterday (Sunday, February 13) the total stood at £816 - donated by 32 supporters, including families and individuals. That's 81 per cent of the total.
British Divers Marine Life Rescue says it is an organisation dedicated to the rescue and well-being of all marine animals in distress around the UK.
"Continuing to train teams of volunteers and maintaining specialised equipment is vital and your support will help us continue our important work," the organisation explains.

Simon caught many fish to sustain him during his stay in our local river.
The above picture - kindly sent to us by Brigg resident Dave Brittain - shows Simon with a pike.
