Emergency repairs following a burst water main in Brigg continued alongside the A18 this morning (Wednesday, February 23) but the company involved has now indicated that completion is in sight, which is good news for motorists.
Anglian Water started work on Monday morning near East Park and the Monument roundabout, with four-way temporary traffic lights in place, resulting in delays for drivers.
Brigg Blog this morning asked the company for a further advisory update.
It replied at 9.45am to say: "The road should be fully reopened this afternoon."
These roadworks were mentioned during Brigg Town Council's monthly meeting held last night.
Coun Rob Waltham pointed out that, in addition to delays for motorists on and near Wrawby Street, the roadworks had also been affecting other streets, with some drivers using Woodbine Avenue and Glebe Road to make detours.
Brigg Blog's own observations support this, and we can add some roads on the Newlands housing estate, including Birch Avenue, Ash Grove and Colton Street, as motorists with local knowledge have been turning off the A18 (to bypass the roadworks on Wrawby Street) and then joined the A18 near the cemetery, having used Glebe Road and then Woodbine Avenue.
AFTERNOON UPDATE: "I can confirm the road is now fully reopened," a spokesperson for Anglian Water told Brigg Blog.
