Pedestrians who use a very popular path in Brigg will be pleased that North Lincolnshire Council has carried out repairs.
Drainage work has been undertaken on Bigby Road, not far from the Monument roundabout.
Following even moderate rainfall, surface water flooded the footpath, sometimes to a depth of several inches. The adjoining grass verge has also been affected.
A team of workers from North Lincolnshire Highways Maintenance was on-site for much of last week, with a mobile digger and bucket attachment employed.
A sign informed passing members of the public this was essential work.
Although part of the nearby A1084 was cordoned off, a lane closure and temporary traffic lights were avoided.
A new drain cover has been installed as part of the work (pictured here).
Yesterday (Wednesday, February 9) this part of Bigby Road was closed to pedestrians again while work on the footpath was being carried out - this time by a contractor (see picture below). Brigg Blog is waiting to hear back from the council about whether or not this is connected with the drainage contract. We think it may involve involve another project not involving the highway authority.
