SATURDAY FOOTBALL ROUND-UP: BRIGG TOWN NARROW POINTS GAP ON LEAGUE LEADERS

Brigg Town Football Club managed a welcome away win to narrow the gap between themselves and the league leaders yesterday (Saturday, February 5).
The promotion-chasing Zebras secured a 1-0 victory at Rainworth Miners Welfare while top team Hallam lost 5-4 at home to Parkgate.
With second-placed North Ferriby winning yesterday, Brigg remain in third spot in Toolstation Northern Counties East Division One - now being four points behind Hallam and remaining one adrift of Ferriby. All these sides have now played 29 league fixtures.
Brigg's scorer at Rainworth (Nottinghamshire) yesterday was Tommy Johnston - midway through the first half.
In EC Surfacing Ltd Scunthorpe & District Football League Division One yesterday, Briggensians lost 5-1 to The Butchers Arms at Brigg Recreation Ground, with Luke Jollands netting for our local side.
Elsewhere in the top flight, Barnetby United were beaten 2-1 in Scunthorpe by College. A match report by Lee Fielden appears below, and he has also kindly supplied the action pictures seen here (Barnetby wearing the black and white kit).
Briggensians Reserves won 5-4 in their Division Three away game at Santon - Owen Dunderdale and Luke
Boden both scoring twice for the 'Old Boys' and Harry Cawkwell also finding the net.

COLLEGE MAINTAIN 100% RECORD

On a blustery day at The Co op ground The Railwaymen went down by the odd goal in 3 to College Wanderers who made it 7 wins from 7 in the 1st division, writes Lee Fielden.
Simon Igoe put College in front on 20 minutes when  he reacted quickest to a deflected free kick to put his side 1-0 up.
Barnetby never really got going and only had a fiercely driven free kick from O’Callaghan coming close to threatening the College goal.
College had spurned a couple of glorious chances to extend their lead before Daniel Ricketts made it 2-0, Quibell on debut for The Railwaymen in goal saved the initial effort but the ball rebounded to Ricketts who slotted home on 81 minutes.
In the dying moments of the game O’Callaghan sent Jake Parker clear of the College back line and he made no mistake, coolly finishing of a fine run but alas it was too little, too late.
