BRIGG YOUNG FARMERS WILL BE HAVING A BALL FOR THE QUEEN'S PLATINUM JUBILEE

Brigg Young Farmers have arranged a glittering social event to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in Spring 2022.
Funds will be raised to help a charity which undertakes valuable work across our area.
The Young Farmers have contacted Brigg Blog with details of their Platinum Jubilee Charity Ball - an evening event.
It will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at the Double Tree By Hilton Hotel, Broughton (formerly Forest Pines).
Entertainment will be provided by the Eccentric Pony band.
Tickets cost £40 and funds will be raised for LIVES - the Lincolnshire Integrated Voluntary Emergency Service, providing emergency care in critical situations.  It has volunteer members in Brigg and district.
The deadline for booking Jubilee Ball tickets is April 30. Call Sam on 07961 927490.
A 'black tie' dress code applies and there will be a three-course meal to enjoy.
It is also intended to organise an auction and a raffle.
Brigg Young Farmers organise an annual Charity Tractor Run, featuring old and new agricultural workhorses and attracting many spectators as the cavalcade progresses through the town and visits nearby settlements across a wide area.
The start and finish point is Ripon Farm Services, on Westrum Lane, Brigg.
Back in 1952, when Queen Elizabeth II became monarch, the largest social venue in Brigg for formal functions was the town centre's Corn Exchange. It was closed by Glanford Borough Council in the early 1990s and later demolished.
The Angel Hotel was also going strong 70 years go, with its ornate ballroom available to host major social events..
In the 1990s, following the hotel's closure, the hotel was acquired for local authority use. The ballroom was converted into what we now know as the Angel Suite.

Other celebrations to mark Her Majesty's milestone anniversary are already being planned in the Brigg area, with many more to come...
