Changes are planned to some buildings at Sir John Nelthorpe Upper School in Brigg.
These alterations are intended to create a new technology suite and involve the demolition of some redundant buildings constructed in the 1960s.
Planning permission is now being sought for partial refurbishment of buildings to form the new technology suite, including the removal of an existing bay window and the provision of a new service access ramp, external doorway and condenser unit.
Also proposed as part of the scheme is the demolition of Block F which includes buildings added by Brigg Grammar School before the Sir John Nelthorpe comprehensive was introduced in 1976.
The scheme now being considered by North Lincolnshire Council planners stresses that the external appearance of the grade one listed part of the school will be unaffected by the proposals.
Information supplied in support of the application explains: "The project involves the partial refurbishment of the school's Block A to form a new technology suite, combined with the demolition of the school's redundant Block F technology building and associated Block Q boiler house.
"Block B contains a listed building element to Grammar School Road; however, no works are taking place to this building and views to Block B are being increased by the proposal and Block F & Q demolition."
North Lincolnshire planners have now established a consultation date, ending on March 8, for this planning application.
Brigg Town Council will be consulted as part of the planning process.
Last year the entrance to the upper school, fronting Grammar School Road, was tastefully refurbished.
The original school room dates back to 1674 and is Brigg's only grade one listed building.
Additions were made to the school in 1878 - recorded by a dated corniche above the front door adjoining Grammar School Road.
Brigg Town Council's Planning & Environment has a meeting coming up towards the end of this month when this scheme is expected to be discussed.
