NEW 'WILD' CATEGORY SUGGESTED FOR BRIGG GARDEN AWARDS

Brigg Town Council will again be arranging its annual competition to select and reward the best local gardens and allotments.
This was agreed by councillors when they met recently in the Buttercross, with full details of how to enter in 2022 to be released in due course.
There could well be a new category this summer - for the best wildflower garden.
Wildflowers, of course, attract many insects, including bees and butterflies.
The suggestion to introduce a 'wild' award was revealed to councillors at their latest session.
Once the best garden and allotments have been judged, it will be interesting to see the choice of venue for the presentation of certificates and trophies in late August or early September.
For many years this was done as part of a Saturday morning social event in the Angel Suite. However, in view of the Coronavirus emergency last year's awards were presented al fresco from a pop-up stand arranged near Thursday stalls in the Market Place.
This proved successful and created interest among members of the public who were passing by in the town centre.
