DISPLAY SCREENS IN BRIGG SHOULD BE RELOCATED, LOCAL RESIDENT SUGGESTS

Digital display screens showing information of interest to the public, located to the rear of the Angel building in Brigg 2022

Well-known in the town as chairman of Brigg Matters magazine, Ken Harrison has suggested the relocation of Brigg Town Council's digital display screen at the rear of the Angel building.
He made reference to "very low footfall" on the nearby car park and felt the screen, featuring a rolling scroll of council-related information, would prove more effective in the Market Place.
Town Mayor Coun Brian Parker pointed out this display screen belonged to North Lincolnshire Council.
Comments then followed from the Brigg & Wolds Ward representatives on the unitary authority, which posts local events and other information on another board adjoining the one used by the Town Council.
Coun Carl Sherwood, the member of the North Lincolnshire cabinet with responsibility for rural areas, said the question could be considered.
Coun Rob Waltham, the unitary authority's leader, stressed the screens were located behind the Angel to be seen by people when they arrived in the car park.
Coun Nigel Sherwood, chairman of North Lincolnshire Council's Planning Committee, suggested any proposal to relocate displays to the Market Place might well result in a strong view being expressed by the conservation officer.
These screens were installed in autumn 2020.
