There will be a major running event in Brigg tomorrow morning (Saturday, February 5) from 9am.
The Ancholme Valley Way Parkrun 5K 'timed event' will follow the footpath alongside the river, heading north beyond the Lidl store into open countryside.
It is not a race; many competitors will be doing for fun and to take some healthy exercise. The event is open to all, whatever their ability.
This is the inaugural Brigg Parkrun, and welcome sponsorship has come from Brigg Town Council, Singleton Birch (Melton Ross) and others.
Brigg has seen many running events in recent years, including autumn Brigg Poppy 10Ks and on-foot sections of various triathlons and quadrathlons (using Cadney Road).
Many Brigg Blog followers will also remember taking part in annual cross-country runs staged while they were secondary school pupils.
Brigg Grammar's course took in Wrawby and returned to the town via Brickyard Lane and Grammar School Road.
