EXTENSION APPROVED AT GUY MARTIN'S PUB & RESTAURANT IN THE BRIGG AREA

A pub & restaurant in the Brigg area which was acquired by Guy Martin the TV presenter and motor-cycle racer some years ago has been given the go-ahead to extend.
Planning permission to erect a kitchen extension to the side and rear of the Marrowbone & Cleaver, on Kirmington High Street, has been granted by North Lincolnshire Council.
Guy's sister, Sally, was the successful applicant (through an agent).
A council planning officer's report explained the extension "is a subservient addition to the rear of the public house and will provide additional kitchen facilities."
Car parking spaces will not be reduced by the extension.
Kirmington Parish Council supported the application but requested the use of a silent-type extractor fan.
Sally and Guy were raised in Kirmington, and the Marrowbone & Cleaver pub was used during the Second World War by aircrew from nearby RAF Kirmington (later converted to become Humberside Airport).
Guy attended secondary school in Brigg and later became a mechanic and championship race ace. He still lives in our district.
Guy recently fronted two TV series on Channel 4 - turning old bangers (one bought in Brigg) into track-racing machines, and learning about the jobs of crewmen who flew war-time Lancaster bombers.
