CHANCE TO MEET THE POLICE IN BRIGG, BROUGHTON & BARNETBY

People living in the Brigg area have several opportunities coming up to meet local officers from Humberside Police.
The Brigg Neighbourhood Policing Team will be holding 'sessions' in Brigg, Broughton and Barnetby over several weeks.
Tuesday, February 22: Brigg Market Place, 1pm to 2pm.
Monday, February 28: Victoria Road, Barnetby, near The One Stop Shop, 3pm to 4pm.
Wednesday, March 23: Broughton High Street, 3pm to 4pm.
"We look forward to seeing you," the policing team is telling interested members of the public.
The team can be contacted by the public using email SPOCCommunitiesNorthLincolnshire@humberside.pnn.police.uk
People used to be able to meet the police in Brigg during quarterly public forums held in the Angel Suite, with the rural inspector in attendance to report the latest crime statistics, highlight any incident 'hot spots' and answer questions from the audience.
The Humberside force discontinued these meetings in 2010 - pointing to the attendance figures and the costs involved.
However, various 'meet the police' or drop-in sessions have been held in Brigg since then, with venues including the Yarborough Hunt, on Bridge Street.
For some years now the Brigg & Wolds Ward crime 'stats' have been made public through the website www.police.uk
Brigg Blog recently outlined the latest figures made available and reflected on month-by-month crime throughout 2021.
Back in the 1980s, Chief Inspector Bill Horsfield (head of the Brigg & Barton sub-division of Humberside Police) used to attend monthly (public) meetings of Brigg Town Council in person, or delegate this duty to one of his inspectors.
Bill was based at our Barnard Avenue police station, which is still open today.
There is no longer a regular police officer presence at Brigg Town Council's monthly meetings where crime-related issues are often raised and discussed.
However, only a few months ago the Humberside Police & Crime Commissioner, Coun Jon Evison, made a special visit to a one in the Buttercross, giving an interesting presentation and answering questions raised by councillors.
Previous Commissioners Matthew Grove and Keith Hunter did likewise while the council was still meeting in the Angel Suite. Use the links to read more.
