FAMILY QUIZ NIGHT IN BRIGG WILL HELP FUND 'TRIPS OF A LIFETIME'

A family quiz night will be held in Brigg this week to raise funds to help four local Scouts who are keen to make 'trips of a lifetime' to a global event in the Far East.
The quiz will be held at Brigg & District Servicemen's Club, Coney Court, on Friday (February 4) from 7.30pm. There will also be games and a raffle.
"Everyone is welcome," the organisers stress. "Bring your friends and family. Will you be the winning team?"
Quizzes always prove popular in the town. So Brigg Blog expects many people to support this event, especially as it is for a worthy cause.
Brigg Explorer Scouts Millie Leahy, Alex Bennett, Theo Price and Oliver, Woodliffe, who are members of the 1st and 2nd Brigg Group, are "starting their fundraising journey to go to the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea in 2023."
They are hosting Friday's family quiz but have plenty of other events planned.
The cost is just £2 (adults) and £1 (children).
To request tickets, send a text message by phone to Emma - 07736 776653.
We can recall reporting for the Brigg-based Lincolnshire & South Humberside Times on what we think was a global Scouting jamboree held at the Lincolnshire Showground, just north of Lincoln, in the early 1980s.
It attracted a very large attendance, including people from other countries, some of whom were interviewed.
Two reporters and photographer Coun Bryan Robins were sent to cover the jamboree.
It was then rare for the Times to deploy the majority of its editorial staff to cover one event.
This weekly paper also gave extensive coverage to local Scouting.
