Flood alert on the New River Ancholme in Brigg on Monday February 21 2022 - flood water on the car park at Ancholme Leisure Centre

An update on the current flood alert in place for Brigg and the Lower River Ancholme will be forthcoming today (Tuesday, February 23).
Following  heavy rain over several days, the Environment Agency, which manages rivers nationwide, issued a local flood alert (timed 4.54pm) for Bishopbridge, Brandy Wharf, Brigg and South Ferriby. It said tributaries may also affected in Waddingham, Redbourne, Moortown and Hibaldstow.
Its general advice is: "Please avoid using low-lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded."
These pictures show the Old and New cuts of the Ancholme in Brigg late yesterday afternoon (Monday).
Somee flooding was evident on the edge of the car park serving Ancholme Leisure Centre, Scawby Brook, close to the river's western bank.
We plan to update this post as information becomes available from the Environment Agency.
