Many years have elapsed since Brigg's last communal bonfire and fireworks display - organised by volunteers - was held on the town's Recreation Ground, with the Town Mayor usually applying the flaming torch to get things under way.
However, local people don't have to travel too far to enjoy something similar tonight (Friday, November 5).
The Sutton Arms pub/restaurant in Scawby has a display from 7pm - £3 admission for adults, £1 for children.
The Jolly Miller, on Brigg Road, Wrawby, will stage its display on Sunday (November 7) from 6.45pm - £3 for adults, £1 for children.
Please note both venues are stipulating that sparklers should not to be taken along.
Brigg Blog would like to request that local people setting off fireworks at home spare a thought for pets living in nearby properties, for whom loud bangs can be frightening.
