BRIGG MOBILE PHONE USERS CAN LOOK FORWARD TO IMPROVED 4G AND ALSO 5G PROVISION

Many people who live in Brigg or visit the town (including passing by on passenger trains) will feel that North Lincolnshire Council has made a very good 'call' with its decision to approve the erection of a new telecommunication phone mast in the town.
The local authority delivered a speedy decision on an application by Waldon Telecom to remove the existing 17.5m high pole adjoining Bigby Road (near the railway and the vacant car lot) and replace it with a new 20m high monopole supporting six antennas (existing ground level cabinets to remain).
A council delegated assessment report on this application explained: "The proposed replacement mast would provide the capacity for better quality telecommunications capacity, in relation to mobile network coverage including improved 4G and the provision of 5G. This would have evident benefits to connectivity in the area and the wider economy as a result.
"The benefits of the improved communications network must be weighed against the visual impacts of the proposal. The mast would replace an existing mast, which would be taller in height and with an increased level of antennae, however it would be stepped further back from the footpath thus reducing in part the visual impact to some degree. The site is part of highway land and would not impact on any heritage asset or the open countryside."
The council granted planning permission only 10 days after the mandatory public consultation period ended on this application.
