Many Brigg people will be attending the town's Remembrance Sunday commemorations tomorrow (November 14). Here are the important details, including times...
The parade, involving representatives of many local groups, organisations, councillors and ex-members of the Forces, will form up on Station Road, close to the Hewson House offices, and leave at 9.30am.
It will then progress to St John's Church for the Service of Remembrance, starting at 9.50am.
This will be followed by a parade through the town centre to the Monument.
The two-minute silence in memory of The Fallen will be observed at 11am, and many wreaths will be laid at the foot of the war memorial.
The parade will then proceed the short distance to Station Road to 'fall out' and conclude the solemn proceedings.
Wear your poppy with pride tomorrow!
Brigg Town Council is again organising the town's Remembrance Sunday commemorations, having taking on this role from the former Urban District authority in the mid-1970s.
This year the Town Council has also taken on the co-ordination of poppy distribution and the collection of donations to be forwarded to the appeal fund.
The Royal British Legion's worthy efforts to help ex-members of the Forces and their families are well-known and respected across the UK.
Other local communities in the Brigg area will also be holding Remembrance Sunday services and laying wreaths at their town and village war memorials. More will take place across North Lincolnshire, including in Scunthorpe, and in neighbouring West Lindsey.
Coun Rob Waltham (Brigg & Wolds), the Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: "The armed forces have protected us for many, many years and it is only right that we commemorate them and thank them for all they have done and still do.”
