BARNETBY UNITED GIVEN THE CHOP BY BUTCHERS
The Railwaymen exited the Sporting Shield at The Quarter final stage, going down 3-1 at Winterton to The Butchers Arms.
Barnetby had the better of the opening exchanges and could have been 2 up early on before Butchers got a foothold in the game.
On 15 minutes a long throw caused panic in the Barnetby box and Brown drilled home the loose ball.
Just before half time a long throw again caused panic and after the ball rebounded off the post Ben Lock put the Butchers 2-0 up.
A reshuffle saw Barnetby score within 30 seconds of the restart but O’Callaghan’s strike was ruled out.
A minute later though he fired in a trademark left footed strike for his 17th of the season.
Try as they might, Barnetby couldn’t breach a stubborn Butchers backline and were hit on the break with 5 minutes to go as Sparrow hit a low effort in off the far post.
There was still chance for Barnetby to get back into the game following Green having been brought down in the area.
Unfortunately, O’Callaghan rolled the resulting penalty wide. Leaving Butchers deserved 3-1 winners.
