Brigg Town Football Club should have been in quarter-final action this weekend - taking a break from chasing promotion in ToolStation Northern Counties East Division One.
The Zebras were set to host Blackstones on Saturday (November 27) in the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy at the EC Surfacing Stadium (Hawthorns). However, the visitors have been unable to raise a team to travel north from Stamford. So Brigg go through to the semi-final stage,
Brigg Town Development will be away to Wyberton this Saturday in the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League Premier.
Wyberton are fifth in the table, while Town's Development XI (17th) have only Epworth Town Colts, who have resigned from the league, below them at present. However, one win would move the Zebras out of the bottom two, and they have a game in hand on Sleaford Town Rangers who are immediately above them.
There's a local derby in the EC Surfacing Ltd Scunthorpe & District Football League this Saturday.
Barnetby United will be entertaining Briggensians at the railway village's Silver Street venue (KO 2pm). These local teams are meeting in Johnsons Transport Hospital Cup Group B.
At Brigg Recreation Ground, Briggensians Reserves will play Gunness & Burringham in Nev Watson Nursing Cup Group B (2pm).
Barnetby United Reserves are away to New Holland Villa in Tortank Barton Brotherhood Cup Group B on Saturday afternoon.
Brigg Hockey Club, which has a range of men's and ladies' teams, will have matches with varying start times this Saturday on the all-weather floodlit pitch at the Rec. The first is scheduled to begin at 11am.
