CHRISTMAS IN COMING AND BRIGG PEOPLE WILL BE IN CHATTY MOOD

The Chatty Benches in Brigg town centre should enjoy plenty of use today as people are in festive mood because of the Christmas lights switch-on and the accompanying special fair featuring market stalls.
One of these benches is pictured above in the Market Place near the Lord Nelson Hotel and the Buttercross.
Affixed signs from Brigg Town Council explain: "This is a Happy to Chat Bench. Sit here if you don't mind someone stopping to say 'Hello, how are you?' as part of Brigg Good Neighbour Scheme."
Signs have been added to existing benches.
Coun Rob Waltham told the council's latest meeting, held on Tuesday night, that the public response to this initiative had been really good.

This session also heard that larger flags had been installed either side of the Buttercross, for which the Town Council obtained planning permission for the grade two listed building dating back to the early 19th century.
The original Union and Lincolnshire flags displayed were considered to be too small.
