QUEEN'S PLATINUM JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS: BRIGG GROUPS CAN NOW APPLY FOR GRANTS

Applications from Brigg & district are now being welcomed by North Lincolnshire Council to help fund events celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee (70 years as reigning monarch) next June.
The local authority is offering grants of up to £250 across its area.
Coun Rob Waltham (Brigg & Wolds Ward), the council's Leader, has welcomed this initiative. The closing date is January 10, 2022 and details of how to apply appear below.

FROM NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL

Let’s get the Platinum Jubilee party started – apply now for cash to celebrate Queen’s historic milestone.
Community groups, town and parish councils and voluntary organisations across North Lincolnshire can get £250 to help kickstart their celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
In June 2022, the nation will come together over a four-day bank holiday weekend to celebrate what will be Queen Elizabeth II’s 70-year reign – the first time any monarch has reached the historic milestone.
The Government has changed the late May Bank Holiday in 2022 to take place on Thursday, 2 June with an additional bank holiday on Friday, 3 June for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Now, North Lincolnshire Council will enable a range of community-led activities and events over the long weekend with up to £250 available for each group. The funding is being made available now in recognition of the fact it can take months to organise events.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee will be a remarkable achievement and it is only right that we help communities in North Lincolnshire to join in the celebrations – big or small – to mark the occasion.
“We have all seen the amazing community spirit in North Lincolnshire over the past 18 months, so it will be brilliant to all come together in celebration of the Queen and her reign.”
Anyone planning an event can get in touch to apply for a share of the £20,000 cash. For further details and to apply, email: communitygrants@northlincs.gov.uk or call 01724 297000.
Applications must be submitted by Monday, 10 January 2022 at 12 noon.
