NEW SHOP OPENING IN BRIGG TOWN CENTRE TODAY

A new shop selling Christmas items and a range of other goods is opening in Brigg today (Thursday, November 4).
The Oikos Brigg Shop is based in the former Greggs bakery premises on Wrawby Street which sold their final sandwiches and cakes four years ago.
Oikos is a registered charity, and people can drop in to buy Christmas cards, gifts, wrapping paper and Advent calendars. Religious books and bibles are also on sale.
This is a Traidcraft outlet, selling a variety of Fairtrade products.
Opening hours will be 10am to 3pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
There's also a lounge where people can chat to the volunteers.
Please note this shop is intended to be permanent, opening three days a week throughout the year; it will NOT be a pop-up shop, as was the case with the previous one located elsewhere on Wrawby Street.
Volunteers drawn from the three churches in Brigg are being trained by its manager to operate the new shop.
The former Greggs premises will also provide a town centre base for Brigg Food Bank. Brigg Town Council recently made a sizeable grant to help with this very worthwhile project.

The initial stage, the Food Larder, is already operational.

Since Greggs left Brigg town centre, these premises remained empty until recently.
