REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY 2021: BRIGG MAY HAVE SEEN A RECORD ATTENDANCE FOR COMMEMORATIONS AS THESE 49 PICTURES SUGGEST

It is difficult to confirm that yesterday's turn-out by local people supporting the Brigg Remembrance Sunday 2021 parade and wreath-laying at the Monument war memorial was a record for the town.
However, conversations with some seniors who were there and our own attendance at Brigg Remembrance Sunday commemorations since the late 1960s/early 1970s suggest this might have been achieved.
Yesterday morning's fine and mild weather for the time of year was certainly a contributory factor. But it's not the only reason for such a commendably high turn out.
It was heartening to see so many young people joining the parade and among the spectators at East Park and adjoining the A18 Monument roundabout.
Some of these youngsters laid wreaths on behalf of local organisations and their schools.
As seniors 'grow old' - to use a term included by Laurence Binyon in his famous WW1 tribute to The Fallen so often quoted at this time of year - their places on Remembrance Sunday commemorations in Brigg need to be taken by today's younger generation.
This extensive selection of pictures taken on Remembrance Sunday yesterday (November 14) has kindly been sent to us by Ken Harrison.
A Brigg and former Wrawby resident, he is chairman of the committee of volunteers which produces the not-for-profit Brigg Matters glossy magazine.
Brigg Matters features items of interest from our town and nearby communities. The next issue is now pending and will include a report about Remembrance Sunday 2021, illustrated with Ken's images.
