WALK THROUGH BRIGG GIVES FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Taking a walk through Brigg during the current Lockdown 2 period gives food for thought when it comes to commercial premises in the town.
The former Greggs bakery shop, on Wrawby Street, will soon have been vacant for three years, having served its final takeaway sandwich on Saturday, November 25, 2017. By way of a reminder, it is pictured above just prior to closure.

The White Hart pub/restaurant, on Bridge Street - popular for meals over many years - has been up for sale for a number of weeks.
For some months the former fish & chip shop, on Glebe Road, has been undergoing transformation into a fast food takeaway, to be known as Sanjay's Chicken Shack (also seen above as work continues).
Many Brigg residents will be keen to see the next commercial use for a sizeable retail unit which hosted the Lindsey Lodge Hospice Shop until its closure during the summer. Internal and external refurbishment has been carried out (see above, with the currently white frontage). Prior to the Scunthorpe-based charity taking on these premises, they were occupied for some years by the Scentiments gift shop up to 2014.
In the Market Place, the extensive Riverside Mews building near the County Bridge remains for sale by auction.
On Bridge Street, AF Carpets' former premises near the junction with Manley Gardens are also on the market - the local firm having relocated to a new showroom on nearby Ancholme Way in June.
The month-long Lockdown 2 Coronavirus emergency period is due to be lifted by the government in early December. Only businesses classed as essential are being permitted to trade during lockdown.
