QUICK SOLUTION TO UNSAVOURY BRIGG PROBLEM

Brigg Town Council only took a few minutes to find a solution to a somewhat unsavoury problem.
During the latest meeting, Coun Penny Smith drew attention to the fact that pet owners are depositing 'poo bags' having cleared up after their pets while walking them through the cemetery. But rather than sturdy and enclosed bins being available for this task, only basket-type open wire-mesh receptacles are evident, and they are designed to take discarded graveside flowers rather than full 'poo bags'.
"My concern is for the men who have to come along and empty these baskets," Coun Smith explained.

Coun Rob Waltham said the council had a large litter bin in stock and suggested it should replace the wire basket at the gated side entrance to the cemetery from Eastfield Road (pictured above).
Coun Carl Sherwood did not consider the cemetery to be the best location for dog walking. "But people are using it," Coun Smith replied.
