BRIGG BUSINESSES PREPARING FOR LOCKDOWN 2 BUT ALSO CHRISTMAS 2020

Amid the gloom surrounding Lockdown 2 which is about to come into force, a Brigg business is currently offering some positive news.
The Mumbai Lounge Restaurant, on Old Courts Road, is now promoting its Christmas Day menu - offering an alternative to roast turkey.
Customers who are fans of Asian cuisine can enjoy a special banquet between 12.30pm and 5.30pm on Friday, December 25. Advance bookings only - call 01652 600800.
Many Brigg businesses - categorised as non-essential by the government - are taking to social media to confirm they will be closed from Thursday (November 5) for the month-long lockdown.
It has been pointed out they would normally be entering a very busy period of Christmas present buying demand.
Some people will now switch to obtaining items online, while others will wait until after December 2 to make festive purchases. So there will be a real rush in the three weeks leading up to Christmas Day.
We should stress that businesses providing food and other essential goods will be staying open throughout lockdown as they did during the first period which began in late March.
However, Brigg's licensed bars and eat-in restaurants will serve their final customers on Wednesday (November 4). Takeaways can continue.
Friday November 27's Christmas Fair, lights switch on ceremony conducted from a stage in the Market Place and late night shopping evening have all been cancelled.
Brigg and District Gardening Club tells us it has cancelled all meetings for the remainder of this year. "Hopefully we will all be able to meet again in February 2021," it says. "Stay safe, everyone."
The government is asking people, particularly those in high risk health categories, to stay at home as much as possible during Lockdown 2, although, if they are able, exercise is encouraged, including healthy walks.
