IS BRIGG LESS AFFECTED BY LOCKDOWN 2 THAN THE INITIAL PERIOD?

There seem to be more people about in Brigg town centre during Lockdown 2 than there were during the initial period from late March to early July. This seems to be the case up to mid-day.
Those out shopping in Wrawby Street on Monday morning (November 9) saw contractors busy erecting more of the new Christmas lights bought by Brigg Town Council. We ran a recent picture showing work in progress on East Park. The new illuminations will be switched on at the end of this month - the ceremony to be 'live streamed' through Brigg Town Council's Facebook page.

Brigg's Thursday and Saturday markets will again be operating this week, but Lockdown 2 restrictions mean that only food items can be sold from the stalls.

The latest lockdown seems to have made little difference when it comes to people cycling or driving vehicles through the pedestrian area.
Recently we saw a shopper on foot step back at the entrance to one of the narrowest courtyards off Wrawby Street to allow a cyclist to come riding through into the pedestrian zone.
We note that Brigg Matters magazine's latest issue, through its Campaign Page, is highlighting the issue of drivers parking vehicles on the paving between Wetherspoon's White Horse pub and the bus shelter at the eastern end of Wrawby Street, near Queen Street.
Brigg Town Council discussed this issue at its last meeting - duly reported by us.
Following on from our post about the Town Council welcoming suggested locations for near trees to be planted, please email enquiries@briggmarkettown.co.uk if you have ideas for the council to consider as part of a new scheme. We don't mind forwarding them on to the Town Clerk, but it's better if the official route is followed - just in case we forget!
