Public support has been expressed for the new Brigg bar proposed for the town centre.
Plans to convert the ground floor of the former HSBC bank premises in the Market Place to licensed premises are the subject of planning and listed building consent applications which await decisions from North Lincolnshire Council.
The public consultation period will end on November 19, and ten people have already made their views known to the council through its planning portal.
Positive comments suggest the bar will help bring people into Brigg, give an old building a new lease of life, add character to the town centre and prove a great asset, as well as creating new jobs.
One member of the public has told planners he objects to the plan - suggesting it might result in traffic entering the pedestrian area to gain access to the bar's car park through the Market Place.
Brigg Town Council has already been consulted as part of the planning process. It has raised no objections to the application, "but would like it noting that there would be serious concerns if traffic were seen to be accessing via The Market Place." Those views have been lodged with North Lincolnshire authority planners.
Supporting information submitted with the application indicates a new entrance to the rear of the site from the Angel car park, to be created through a brick wall. This land is currently occupied by bushes and other foliage.
The development scheme also includes the creation of two apartments and office space.
North Lincolnshire Council's highways department has told the authority's planners that it has no comments or objections to make on this application.
