Lest We Forget, this year and every year a Brigg family places crosses on the graves of every servicemen laid to rest in the town's cemetery off Wrawby Road.
FROM KYE BROWN - ON BEHALF OF HIS FAMILY
In Brigg cemetery for over 30 years, initiated by our late father Alf Brown, our family has carried on with an everlasting respect for the brave men who paid the ultimate sacrifice and who are are laid to rest in Brigg Cemetery, of placing a remembrance cross on every war grave in Brigg Cemetery.
It is with a sombre tone that, upon reading some of the inscriptions, they were part of the armed forces from such far away places as New Zealand, Canada, Australia and lay down to rest in Brigg, alongside their fellow heroes, and will never be forgotten.
We Will Remember Them
N.F. ADDS: We've sent our thanks to the Brown family for sharing those poignant thoughts. When visiting the cemetery, we always pause at the war graves for a moment to remember The Fallen. We are sure many other townsfolk do likewise. Tomorrow (November 8) is Remembrance Sunday. Please note that members of the public are being asked NOT to gather at the Monument war memorial this year to watch the wreaths being laid. This is due to Coronavirus emergency restrictions on gatherings. Brigg Town Council will be 'live streaming' proceedings from 10.30am. Use this link to its Facebook page tomorrow to watch the ceremony... https://www.facebook.com/briggtown.council
