Brigg is in line to benefit from THREE late night Christmas shopping evenings this year. That's very welcome and positive news at this grim time for traders and will assist those whose Christmas shopping plans have been put on hold by lockdown 2.0, due to end on December 2.
Subject to the Coronavirus lockdown ending on the due date, Brigg Town Business Partnership is proposing that members' shops stay open until 8pm on Thursdays December 3, 10 and 17.
This will give local people more space while shopping for presents and provisions for the festive period.
Shops are now being invited to sign up and take part on these dates.
And that's not all... The partnership will be continuing its annual competition to reward the best Christmas window displays.
Plans are also being made for a Christmas Elf Trail - children being asked to find hidden elves in shop windows and win a prize.
Originally, Brigg was on course for ONE late night shopping evening this year - on Friday, November 27.
However, the cancellation of that evening's Christmas fair and lights switch on from a stage erected in the Market Place meant there would be no mass gathering of people in the town centre to visit shops if they stayed open beyond normal hours.
