BRIGG HOUSEHOLDS' BROWN BIN COLLECTIONS: COUNCIL SUSPENDS SERVICE EARLY

Brigg households' brown garden waste bins will NOT be emptied as scheduled next week. The scheduled Tuesday collection on November 24 has been cancelled by North Lincolnshire Council, with the Coronavirus emergency being one of the reasons.
The authority explains: "Brown bin collections will be suspended from the beginning of next week, Monday 23 November. This is slightly earlier than planned, following a reduction in the amount of garden waste and staffing pressures due to the impact of Covid-19."
The council's eight household waste recycling sites, across the region, including the one near Broughton, remain open "but should only be visited if essential."
Brown bin collections will recommence in the new year as previously planned, with residents being asked to check waste calendars or visit the council's website to check collection dates. Brigg Blog will post details in January.
"North Lincolnshire residents can still replace their brown bin with a free composter. Visit our website to find out more about the home composter exchange scheme," the council adds.
Brigg households with Tuesday collections WILL still have their burgundy recycling bins, containing plastic items and cardboard, emptied on Tuesday, November 24, as indicated in our picture display above.
Brown bin collections were suspended by the council for some weeks in the spring when the virus-related emergency period began - resuming on June 2.
