Brigg Town Council's latest meeting featured a call for action to stop parking on a paved area near a salon and close to the frontage of Wetherspoon's White Horse pub and restaurant.
It came from Coun Penny Smith, who blamed "sheer laziness" on the part of some motorists, cited damage to the York stone and suggested that some bollards nearby might be reassigned to make such parking impossible.
Brigg Blog has noticed that motorcycles and scooters are also parked at this location, from time to ime, as well as vehicles.
Coun Rob Waltham addressed the meeting after Coun Smith and suggested the issue should be raised with North Lincolnshire Council highways.
Last night (Saturday) we noted two cars parked on the paved area.
A couple of days after these discussions, Brigg Blog went to take a look and photographed the paving which shows evidence of cracks.
We also photographed the metal bollards mentioned by Coun Smith.
Being mid-afternoon, in midweek, we didn't find any cars parked on the pavement.
This part of the town centre is outside the pedestrian area and has one-way vehicular access from Wrawby Street via Cross Street.
Brigg Blog wonders whether pavement parking comes within the remit of North Lincolnshire Council's wardens while they are on patrol in the town centre. If so, could they be instructed to keep an eye on things?
