BRIGG BRUSH-UP WORK PROPOSED

Two well-known structures in Brigg could be in line for makeovers.
During Brigg Town Council's November meeting to be held on Tuesday evening (24th) elected members will be asked to consider and agree the re-painting of the Tintab shelter and the bandstand.
A public shelter with seating was gifted to the town in the 1930s by Mr Andrews who lived near the railway level crossing. It became known as the Tin Tabernacle because an attached framed verse from the Bible contained the word tabernacle (a meeting place).
The four-sided Tintab shelter is located on East Park, near the Monument roundabout.
The metal bandstand in the Market Place was provided by Brigg Civic Society. However, following this group's demise, the Town Council stepped in to oversee its upkeep.

Our pictures show a previous repainting of the bandstand being carried out some years ago.
