LOCKDOWN 2: BRIGG MARKETS TO SELL 'ESSENTIAL GOODS ONLY'

Brigg Market is going ahead today (Thursday, November 5) on what is the first day of the month-long Lockdown 2 imposed by the government in an effort to stem the Coronavirus.
However, North Lincolnshire Council stresses that our market, and the one held in Ashby, are for traders "selling essential goods only."
The council has not defined "essential" for the public so far, but Brigg Blog suggests the fruit and veg stall and the fish van fall within this category. However, a few of the other Brigg stalls may not.
The council has also confirmed that Brigg Farmers' Market, to be held on Saturday, November 28, CAN proceed - selling essential goods only.
Brigg's general market days are Thursday and Saturday and are set to continue throughout November during Lockdown 2, which is due to end in early December.

In early April we reported that one enterprising stallholder was using a vacant local shop after suspension of Brigg's general markets.

The monthly Brigg Farmers' Markets were suspended for a time in the Spring during the initial lockdown period, but resumed on June 27.
