Some Brigg businesses serve the town for decades, while others come and go. That's the nature of things in the business world.
Since Brigg Blog launched in 2007 we've mentioned many new ventures, and have sadly reflected on some that have ceased trading.
Paul Hildreth's informative 'Movers & Shakers' feature in the latest issue of Brigg Matters magazine was in mind while we were taking a walk through the Market Place earlier this week, and his page set us thinking about how Brigg's range of shops today compares with the scene 20 and 25 years ago.
The lists that follow do NOT include ALL businesses that were then trading, but recall some that tended to advertise their services to the public.
Pictured above - by way of a Then & Now comparison - we see the Varlows fashion shop which was such a well-known feature of the western end of the Market Place for many years, and also the small businesses now occupying these premises near the County Bridge - Super Nails, Ellis's Hair & Beauty and County Antiques & Interiors.
Hopefully what follows will bring back some shopping memories for many Brigg Blog followers...
