REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY 2020: BRIGG REMEMBERS THE FALLEN

Remembrance Sunday 2020 commemorations in Brigg had to take on a revised format today (November 8) because of Coronavirus emergency restrictions.
However, the town still remembered The Fallen in dignified and poignant fashion at the Monument war memorial.
A late amendment to national guidelines permitted a bugler to play The Last Post - always one of the most evocative features of Remembrance Sunday.
Wreaths were laid at the foot of the war memorial by forces' veterans, community representatives, Brigg Town Mayor Coun Sharon Riggall, Brigg & Goole MP Andrew Percy, the emergency services and members of local groups/organisations.
Among those paying tribute was Coun Ann Eardley, the former Town Mayor - attending her 50th Remembrance Sunday event in the town.
Keith Simpson, lay reader, led a short service, while Town Clerk Kerry McGrath and Coun Carl Sherwood were involved in providing 'live feed' video footage for local people to watch through Brigg Town Council's Facebook page. Click here to view the videos...
However, it was not possible to hold the usual parade through the streets, nor the traditional church service at St John's.
