PLEDGE PRE-LOCKDOWN SUPPORT IN BRIGG TODAY FOR WORTHY CAUSE

Community-minded Brigg volunteers are being asked to pledge their today (Monday, November 2) to help a good cause.
Brigg Rotary Club needs help to plant crocus flower corms for its Purple4Polio scheme, which is now earmarked to take place at various points in the town tomorrow (Tuesday) and on Wednesday.
This task was to have taken place last Saturday but had to be cancelled because heavy rain was forecast. It was re-arranged to this Saturday (November 7) but that can't now happen because Coronavirus emergency lockdown will be in place.
If you can spare a few hours tomorrow and/or on Wednesday, please contact the organisers TODAY (Monday). Call 07519 330432 or email briggrotary@gmail.com
Rotary says: "Our challenge is to plant 50 circles with 36 corms in each. The circles will be on the verges from New Street down to the Monument and then down to Parkers Carpets. We will also planting on the corners of Old Courts Road and Cary Lane. We will also be planting outside A & F Carpets and across from the new Aldi, too.

"The way we are organising it with social distancing and the wearing of masks as well as individuals responsible for making the holes and others planting or sanding will make it very safe and do-able. Where we are planting, the grass will be cut and the circles marked out We intend to work slow and steady!

"Subject to availability we will start at 9.30 and work through to 11.30, and from 1.30 to 3.30. If you can do the two hours, great; if not, do as much as your time allows. Please bring a fork and a stiff brush. The planting can be done individually or with others you can decide."
